MATERIALS PLANNER / PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST


Materials Planner / Procurement Specialist Job Description Microsembly, LLC, Leaders in RF Microwave Contract Manufacturing, We are seeking an experienced Materials Planner / Procurement Specialist to join our contract manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing inventory levels, materials planning, and coordinating with suppliers and internal customers to ensure on-time delivery of products for turnkey and consigned material kits. This position supports our supply chain management and requires strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support inventory management processes and systems, ensuring accurate tracking, traceability, and reporting of materials.
  • Manage procurement of production materials, including tracking and expediting activities, while ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices, meet quality standards, and hit program deadlines.
  • Create, release, and track material kits to the production team for turnkey and customer-consigned programs.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Analyze historical consumption data to forecast future material requirements.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and reliable delivery.
  • Generate and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate and timely execution.
  • Collaborate with internal production, engineering, quality and sales teams to resolve material-related issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement, planning, or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for data analysis
  • Proven track record in managing customer-owned inventory with accurate documentation
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers and managing vendor relationships over the phone, via email, and in-person
  • Strong understanding of purchasing method and practices, material kitting and lot traceability requirements
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independency and as part of a team

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with RF Microwave contract manufacturing operations
  • Ability to read drawings and BOMS, as well as parts and component knowledge
  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards, DFARS, CMMC, ITAR, and other mandated compliance requirements
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Certification in supply chain management (CPIM, CSCP, or similar)
  • Familiarity with just-in-time (JIT) inventory management techniques
