Position Function: The Solderer Assembler is a member of the Solder Assembly Team who assembles and solders components on circuit boards following written work instructions and supporting documents in a high mix/low volume manufacturing environment.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
- Solder and assemble microwave and electronic components using a microscope.
- Work with team members to complete work orders.
- Work on a variety of products and operation steps to achieve the production schedule.
- Support the company through participation in continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrable hand-soldering skills of surface mount components to PCBs and assembly of electronic components under a microscope.
- Performs solder operations according to J-STD-001 and IPC-610 standards. Verifiable and active certifications as plus.
- Proficiency in the use of basic hand tools such as soldering irons, hot plates, torque wrenches, wire strippers and multimeters.
- Reads and understands assembly drawings and work instructions.
- Detail-oriented -- quality and precision-focused.
- Understands and follows best ESD practices.
- Monitors quality in accordance with established quality specifications.
- Must be adaptive to a fast-paced engineering environment and able to integrate as an active team member with a positive can-do attitude.
- Ability to take constructive feedback from peers, leads and/or managers.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Available to work over-time as needed.
- And all other duties assigned by your Supervisor/Manager.
Additional Experience
- Solder board mount, installation feed-thru.
- Solder on Duroid (Rogers) material.
- Use of Lead-Free solder.
- Use of Lenium.
- Use of Rosin Flux.
- Knowledge of hand cleaning.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience hand solder working in the micro-electronics industry required.
- General and specialized knowledge of RF Microwave and Micro-electronics assembly. Experience with military and aerospace assemblies a plus.
- Ability to manually place and solder surface mount components under microscope.
- Capable of working from blueprints, assembly procedures and routes.
- As our products require a high degree of fine motor skills to manufacture, vision, manual dexterity and hand and eye coordination are essential.
- Experience to utilize hand tools: tweezers, EFD, torque drivers, micro cutters and other similar tools.
- Experience soldering on hot plate, SMT and Thru Hole.
- Strong team contributor in a dynamic workflow environment with good time management skills.
